WELCOME TO THE

CAREER EXPLORATION CENTER

Andrea Clark, Instructional Assistant

{AC}

What is the Career Exploration Center all about?

The Career Exploration Center is a program designed to give 8th graders hands-on experience in three or more of the following technical fields of their choice:

• Bookkeeping and Finance
• Broadcasting
• Computer Aided Drafting Design
• Cosmetology
• Crime Scene Investigation
• Small Engine Service
• Household Wiring
• Landscape Design
• Medical Services
• Culinary Arts/Restaurant Management
• Plumbing & Pipe Fitting
• Air Conditioning & Refrigeration
• Sheet Metal Work
• Television/Telephone Cable Installation
• Interior Design
• Veterinary Medicine

By viewing pre-recorded career information and following specific instructions on a television, students work independently on completing their career experience.  The program is designed for students to explore career possibilities, vocational and otherwise, while learning about themselves.   It is a perfect opportunity for those students who are visual and tactile learners!

For those students that have a specific career interest in mind or are undecided, there is an extensive library of resources available in the Career Exploration Center as well as games and activities to help the student learn about themselves and their career interests.

It’s never too early for your student to begin thinking about career interests and which academic direction to take to assure that your student is shaped into a productive adult and life long learner.
