Dear Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School Families,

 

We wish to make you aware that a high school student tested positive for COVID-19.

 

District administration is in close communication with the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) and is coordinating all actions in accordance with their guidance as well as protocols established within the District’s Health & Safety Plan. 

 

Specifically, the following steps have been taken:

• The Pennsylvania Department of Health assisted with the initial risk assessment and contact tracing;
• Students and/or staff identified as having been exposed to the individual infected have been notified by either the District or the DOH;
• Appropriate quarantining/isolation measures are taking place for the individual recovering from the illness and for any individuals determined to have been exposed;
• Building-wide communication to all families is being sent through the Sapphire Notification System and posted to the district webpage

 

After initial contact tracing, it was determined that due to the safety protocols that have been put in place with the District’s phased reopening and social distancing, the school will remain open. 

 

The district remains in close contact with the family and sends well wishes to the affected individual.  We are confident in the steps that have been taken to safeguard all of our students and staff.  We are thankful to our families for being careful to keep symptomatic children at home.  Please visit our website (www.mbgsd.org) for more information regarding Health Monitoring (click on “Reopening Information”).
