MASD Inclement Weather Information 2020-2021
Inclement Weather Information for the 2020-2021 School Year
The purpose of this quick reference guide is to inform Mechanicsburg Area School District families of how the District will handle unplanned daily schedule changes resulting from inclement weather during the 2020-2021 school year.
The District practice of cancelling school because of inclement weather will not take place this school year. If inclement weather occurs on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday, the District will switch from our hybrid mode of instruction to a remote mode of instruction. If inclement weather occurs on a Wednesday, remote instruction will occur in the same way we have done since the start of the school year.
The District practice of delaying the start of school for 1 to 2 hours because of poor road conditions will not occur this school year. If road conditions are hazardous the morning of a face-to-face day, the District will switch from our hybrid mode of instruction to a remote mode of instruction. We will continue to evaluate this approach to delayed starts throughout the winter.
When weather conditions dictate that a change in the daily schedule is in the best interest of student safety, the district will use several communication channels to notify parents, students, and staff as quickly as possible. A notification will be posted as soon as possible on the District website, Twitter page, and sent via the Sapphire Messaging System.
