Summer Employment Opportunities Available NOW!!!

Summer Adventure Camp

 SAC is a day camp over the summer developed for children to spend the day outdoors doing various activities. This is a ten-week program and it is essential that you are available eight of the ten weeks. These are full time positions, 8 hour shifts per day, but scheduling can be flexible.  SAC is offered June 13 - August TBD, Monday-Friday, 7:00 am-5:30 pm.

Mandatory training in May & June-dates TBD.

 

 

Summer Adventure Camp Supervisor:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older and a minimum of 5 years of experience working with children
  • Experience in a leadership role
  • CPR and First Aid Certified, training will be provided
  • Must be able to supervise and respond to staff and camp needs
  • Ability to create staff schedules and complete administrative duties
  • Must be a positive role model
  • Must be organized
  • Must come to work with a positive attitude and on time
  • Must be flexible and willing to step in to assist at camp when needed
  • Must communicate well with camp staff, parents, campers, and camp director
 

Summer Adventure Camp Leader:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older and a minimum of 3 years of experience working with children
  • Teaching certificate or studying education in college required, or previous experience at SAC with exceptional staff evaluation
  • CPR and First Aid Certified, training will be available
  • Must be able to lead counselors in daily activities/operations
  • Must be dedicated to SAC and willing to organize games/daily activities for the campers
  • Must be a positive role model for campers and employees
  • Must come to work with a positive attitude and on time
  • Must be able to communicate with parents, office and counselors
  • Must provide a SAFE & FUN environment for SAC
 

Summer Adventure Camp Counselor:

  • Must be 17 years of age or older and a minimum of 1-year experience working with children
  • CPR and First Aid certified, training will be available
  • Must be dedicated to SAC and willing to help organize games/daily activities for campers
  • Must supervise the campers at all times
  • Must be a positive role model for campers and employees
  • Must come to work with a positive attitude and on time
  • Must be able and willing to lead games and activities for campers
  • Must communicate with Leader
  • Must provide a SAFE & FUN environment for SAC

Playground Program

The Playground program is a free program offered to children living in Upper Allen, Mechanicsburg, and Shiremanstown. This is an eight-week program that begins June 20 and ends August TBD.  The program is run at Koser Park in Mechanicsburg, Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am-3:00 pm, and Fridays 9:00 am-12:00pm. It is also run at Fisher Park in Upper Allen Township, Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am-3:00pm. No program on Fridays.

Mandatory training in May & June-dates TBD.

 

 

 Playground Leader:

  • Must be 16 years of age or older and a minimum of 1-year experience working with children
  • CPR and First Aid Certified, training will be available
  • Must be creative and willing to organize games/daily activities
  • Must come to work with a positive attitude and on time
  • Must be able to communicate with parents, co-workers and office
  • Must provide a SAFE & FUN environment

EMPLOYMENT CHECKLIST FOR RECREATION INSTRUCTOR

 

Thank you for considering employment with the Mechanicsburg Area Parks and Recreation Department, which is part of the Mechanicsburg Area School District organization. The following items are required of all school district employees.

1.

CRIMINAL HISTORY CLEARANCE – The cost for this clearance is $22.00.   When completing this online clearance application, please select “Employment” as the reason for the clearance request.   The clearance must be dated within 365 days of hire date. The District may not accept clearances for employment purposes if they were obtained as “Volunteer.”

CHILD ABUSE HISTORY CLEARANCE – The cost for this clearance is $13.00. You will first create an individual account and then login to complete your request.   When completing this clearance application, please select “School Employee Governed by Public School Code” as the reason for the request. The clearance must be dated within 365 days of hire date. The District may not accept clearances for employment purposes if they were obtained as “Volunteer.”

FBI CLEARANCE FORM - The cost for this clearance is $22.60.   When completing this online application, please enter 1KG6XN as your Service Code. You will pre-register online and then pay (no cash or personal checks) once you get fingerprinted at the IdentoGO store, 6483 Carlisle Pike Suite 104 Mechanicsburg PA 17050. Bring your confirmation sheet and your form of identification that you choose during your pre-registration process. The clearance must be dated within 365 days of hire date.

PDE 6004 FORM – Act 24 Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form

ACT 168 FORM: see attached form– Please complete the first part and Section 1 of the Act 168 form for each current employers and for any past employers if you worked for a school or with children in these jobs. You may have several forms to complete based on your employment history. If you have no applicable employment, please check box “no applicable employment and complete and sign Section 1.

6.

I-9 FORM – This is a federal form concerning eligibility to work in the United States. It will be completed in person at Human Resources. For this form you will need to bring form(s) of ID. Please see the attached the list of acceptable forms of ID.

7.

TB TEST – form is attached - this must be obtained before employment begins and be within 3 months of coming into the district. The school nurse, Sharon Kessler, located at Elmwood Academy, gives the TB test to all paid employees at no charge. Please contact her at 717-691-4580 for details.

SAFE SCHOOLS TRAINING – Pennsylvania Act 126 and Act 71 and school district policy require employees to complete Safe Schools online video training concerning child safety/mandatory reporting and youth suicide: awareness and prevention. All district employees must complete this training, regardless of whether they work directly with children in the course of their employment. You will receive login information from Human Resources at meeting.
