About Ms. Carey

I am so excited to be at MASH and specifically in the TES classroom!  I previously taught at West Shore School District, Cumberland Valley School District and, most recently, at Northern York County School District.  I come to Mechanicsburg with 14 years of teaching experience ranging from kindergarten through twelfth grade assisting students with a wide variety of academic, behavioral, and emotional challenges.  Although I feel that it is my life experiences that have provided me with invaluable coping skills and strategies that I am excited to share with my students. I am honored to be a part of the wonderful TES team at MASH!

I have lived in south central PA almost all of my life, and think it’s one of the greatest places to live!  I grew up down the road in Camp Hill and graduated from Trinity High School.  From there I went to the Altoona campus of Penn State for my freshman and sophomore years of college before moving up to University Park to finish my degree in Special Education.  Interesting fact about me:  I started college majoring in International Business and Finance with a minor in French.  WHOA!  I worked with a student who was non-verbal between my freshman and sophomore years of college and decided THIS is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life!  So I changed my major to teaching!  I LOVE going to Penn State football games, and I most certainly bleed blue and white!!!  And I think that the Penn State Creamery has THE BEST ice cream I have ever eaten!  WE ARE!!!

I live in Wellsville (a small town south of Dillsburg) with my son, Isaac, and 3 furry children (our yellow lab Hunter and our 2 cats: Punkin, and Kitters).  Isaac is a 2019 graduate from Northern High School and attends the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY where he studies Mechanical Engineering and enjoys playing Spike Ball.  I am a proud momma!  In my free time, I enjoy cooking and baking...and watching shows about cooking and baking!  I love to read books…self-help, motivational, non-fiction, fiction…pretty much anything with a cover and pages in between!  I also attend a bible study group with friends from my church. I LOVE to go camping, and this summer traveled over 1500 miles in my motorhome.  To me, there’s nothing better than enjoying s’mores or a mountain pie (if you don’t know what a mountain pie is then we need to chat!) while sitting around a campfire.  I love spending time with my friends for dinner and some card playing.  And I’m currently remodeling my home with all of the great ideas that I’ve watched on HGTV!
