Resources for Math Help

How can I get help in math class?
Both the middle and high schools have opportunities for support in math class. Please see your teacher to arrange a time to meet before and after school, or during the flex periods. Additionally, more intensive support is available to help students succeed in math.

In the middle school, two levels of support are available. Our Tier 2 intervention schedules students twice per cycle with their math teacher during the W.I.N. period. Here they will not only review current material, but also provide remediation for deficits in basic math skills. Our more intensive program is Tier 3 intervention, which is an additional period of mathematics with our intervention specialists. This program focuses on preview and acceleration rather than remediation of previous learning. The goal of this program is to provide interventions to students so that in time, they will be successful in math class without this level of support.

At the high school level, the level 2 courses of Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 all have corresponding supplemental courses. These classes meet three times per cycle in addition to their regular math class. Teachers will preview concepts and vocabulary as well as review current topics to support students.

Please contact your child's classroom teacher for more information. You may also contact the Supervisor of Secondary Mathematics, John Althouse, at [email protected] or 717-506-0861 to learn more about the programs.
