Dr. Christopher Bowman, Assistant Superintendent

Dr. Christopher Bowman currently resides in New Oxford, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Jenn, and their two active children, Braeden and Kendall. Both Braeden and Kendall attend New Oxford High School, where they participate in three sports each. Kendall also finds time to be involved in band and chorus, and both children are members of Student Council. Their full schedules keep the Bowman family energized and engaged in school and community life.

A native of Reading, PA, Dr. Bowman is proud of his Berks County roots—a connection he shares with Dr. Bitz, which he was pleased to discover upon joining the district in August 2024. A 1996 graduate of Exeter Township Senior High School, Dr. Bowman was actively involved in athletics (football, basketball, and baseball) and the arts (band, chorus, orchestra, jazz band, and musical theater), all while pursuing a college preparatory academic track.

He continued both his academic and athletic journeys at Gettysburg College, where he graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education. He began his career as the middle school and high school choral director in the Gettysburg Area School District. During his seven years there, Dr. Bowman also coached football and volleyball, and directed six musicals.

In May 2007, Dr. Bowman earned his Master’s degree in Educational Administration from McDaniel College. That same year, he was hired as the assistant principal of South Western High School in Hanover, PA, where he served for five years before returning to his home district, Conewago Valley School District. There, he served as assistant principal of New Oxford Middle School for five years, and then as principal for one year before being appointed principal of New Oxford High School—a role he held for six years.

Now a proud Wildcat, Dr. Bowman is excited to be part of the Mechanicsburg community and to embrace the Wildcat Way.
