October is National Bullying Prevention Month. We want our students to have the courage to be UPstanders. An UPstander is someone who recognizes when something is wrong and acts to make a change. One way we can all be UPstanders is to participate in Unity Day.
Unity Day was started by PACER’S National Bullying Prevention Center in 2011. Our elementary school will be recognizing Unity Day on Wednesday, October 22nd. We want to come together as a school commUNITY and show that we are united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion. What a powerful way to send a unified message that we care about student’s physical and emotional wellness and that all students belong here at MASD! We hope all of the students, staff and families will join us in wearing the color ORANGE on Unity Day to help us make a bold statement as a commUNITY.
Students will also be working on an activity that shows Every Step You Take Matters. Check out our foot prints when you come in for parent teacher conferences.
