🚌🛑 BUS SAFETY PROGRAM LAUNCHES MAY 5, 2025 - PLEASE SHARE // Mechanicsburg Area School District has partnered with BusPatrol and our friends at Mechanicsburg Police Department, Upper Allen Township Police Department, and Shiremanstown Police Department to launch a new school bus safety program in line with PA Motor Vehicle Code § 3345. As part of the program, all school buses transporting our Wildcats will be outfitted with stop arm photo enforcement cameras to detect vehicles that illegally pass stopped school buses while the stop sign is out and red lights are engaged. Footage obtained of a vehicle that illegally passes the stopped bus is then shared with the police department to determine whether to issue a violation by mail. The violation is reviewed by law enforcement and, once approved, a notice of violation is sent to the registered vehicle owner by mail. The program will officially launch on Monday, May 5, 2025. Learn more about this program and school bus safety laws here - https://www.mbgsd.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=838760&type=d&pREC_ID=2665518 Know the law. Keep our Wildcats safe.

🌎 Our second-grade Wildcats at Broad Street Elementary School celebrated Earth Day yesterday with a science experiment. They learned how oil spills affect birds and tested a “mystery ingredient” to clean feathers—spoiler alert: it was Dawn dish soap! Learning, experimenting, and making connections to real-world science — that’s how we grow future changemakers! 💚 📸 Photos shared courtesy of Ms. Doyle, Mrs. Meassick, Mrs. Harper, and Mrs. Souder, second-grade teachers at Broad Street, #WildcatPride

💛 LITTLE MOMENT, BIG IMPACT // Today, Dr. Rudisill, Northside Elementary School's principal, paused to help a Wildcat tie her shoe — a small act of kindness that speaks volumes about the care and connection we build every day. It's in these simple moments that students feel seen, supported, and loved. Have a great Spring Break, Wildcats. And know that we can't wait to welcome you back on Tuesday. #WildcatPride #EveryMomentMatters

🍦🎉 SCOOPIN' UP SOME FUN // Elmwood Academy Principal Joe Underkoffler and Assistant Principal Keith Shively recently traded in their school badges for ice cream scoops at Rakestraw's. As celebrity scoopers, they served up smiles and sweet treats during a special fundraiser for the PTO. The community came out in full force to support the cause — and to see if their principals could handle the pressure of a double-scoop cone! 😊 Thank you to everyone who came out, supported the PTO, and enjoyed a delicious night of fun. Special shoutout to our principals for going the extra mile for our students and families. 📸 Photos courtesy Mindy Shively and Nikki Hutcheson.

👏 LET’S GIVE OUR GENIUSES A ROUND OF APPLAUSE // These Wildcats from Northside Elementary School proudly and confidently presented their Genius Hour projects to our Board of School Directors during this evening’s meeting. Genius Hour is a classroom project that allows students to explore their interests and passions. Through this project, students are encouraged to be curious and ask questions, and research and learn something new. They share their projects with each other, and in May they will share their final projects and experiences with friends, families, and members of our school community. Congratulations, Wildcats! 📚 In celebration of National School Librarian Day, Broad Street Elementary School students and staff honored school librarian Sarah George for all the wonderful things she does for our Wildcats. Students decorated their own "book spines"—drawing pictures, signing their names, and writing heartfelt notes of appreciation for Mrs. George. The staff then used these creative tributes to beautifully decorate the library window, turning it into a colorful display of gratitude and love. 👏 Please help us honor Mrs. George and all of our school librarians. Today we celebrate you, every day we appreciate you. 📸 Photo shared courtesy Tara Bradley, Administrative Assistant to the Principal. #WildcatPride #ThankYOU
