🐾 One of the best parts of being a Wildcat is the way our students show up for one another—whether it’s supporting friends from the sidelines at athletic competitions or encouraging each other in class. That spirit of support and pride is what makes our district so special.

Check out our full schedule of Wildcat athletic events here 🔗 https://arbiterlive.com/Teams?entityId=14336. A calendar of events for each building can be found on each school's website 🔗 https://www.mbgsd.org/

🧦 🎉 Hey, Mr. Johnston—YOU KNOCKED OUR SOCKS OFF // Let's kick off this Monday with a celebratory post! Dr. Bitz stopped by Mechanicsburg Middle School to honor Adam Johnston, who stepped in as temporary Kitchen Manager to support our food service team. His dedication and teamwork didn't go unnoticed, and to show our thanks, Dr. Bitz presented him with a special pair of Wildcat socks (only two people in the district have a pair of these socks!).

What is You Knocked Our Socks Off? It’s a new way to recognize MASD staff who go above and beyond—whether in big or small ways. When we see or hear about those moments that “knock our socks off,” Dr. Bitz surprises the honoree with a fun pair of Wildcat socks as a token of appreciation.

SAFETY FIRST // Our Transportation Department will be conducting bus evacuation drills throughout the week of September 8, 2025. 🏫🚌 These important drills happen twice a year to ensure our students know what to do in an emergency.

📢 What to Expect:
✔️ Drills will take place before school upon arrival.
✔️ Drivers will review safety procedures with students.
✔️ Morning bus drop-offs may be delayed by up to 10 minutes—thank you for your patience!

🎨 DOT DAY PREP // Inspired by The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds, our Wildcats at Northside Elementary School are filling art class with courage, creativity, and lots of dots! The story encourages young artists to “make their mark,” and that’s exactly what our Wildcats are doing. Later this month, we’ll celebrate Dot Day together and unveil their final creations.

🎉 🧦 SOCKS OFF TO MR. WILLIAMS // We’re proud to share that Dr. Bitz recently delivered our very first You Knocked Our Socks Off award to DAN WILLIAMS, first-grade teacher at Broad Street Elementary!

Outside of school, Mr. Williams noticed a MASH student in need and didn’t hesitate to step in—staying by their side until help arrived. That student turned out to be one of his former first graders, a powerful reminder that the connections our teachers build last far beyond the classroom. Congratulations, Mr. Williams! 💛

🚌 SAFETY ALWAYS // Our Wildcats at Shepherdstown Elementary School recently took part in school bus safety lessons. They practiced how to safely enter and exit the bus, learned the importance of safe behavior while riding, and more—all with the end goal of helping keep everyone safe on the road.

📚 LEARNING TAKES MANY FORMS // Learning isn’t just one thing—it’s a mix of moments happening all around us. Sometimes it looks like quiet focus on independent work. Other times it’s sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with a teacher, asking questions and exploring new ideas. And often, it’s the energy of teamwork, where students collaborate, share perspectives, and build solutions together.

No matter the setting, each moment adds up to growth, confidence, and discovery. That’s the heart of learning. Keep it up, Wildcats! 🐾
