🌳 As July comes to a close, we would be remiss if we didn't recognize Park and Recreation Month, and celebrate not only the incredible team that brings our programs and events to life all year long, but also our amazing staff who bring the magic to our Playground Program and Summer Adventure Camp.

From leading games and crafts to organizing youth sports, special events, and community programs, both our counselors and recreation team go above and beyond to make every moment meaningful. Their energy, kindness, and dedication create spaces where fun, learning, and connection thrive — all year long.

From the U.S. Military Academy at West Point (Class of 1964) to 28 years in the U.S. Army, followed by 32 years dedicated to our Wildcats—16 as a full-time Social Studies teacher at MASH and another 16 as a beloved substitute (at both MASH and MMS)—Retired Col. 💐 A FITTING FAREWELL // Fifth-graders at Elmwood Academy recently honored Learning Support Teacher Marlo Kent, who is retiring after 33 incredible years in education. With help from IA Beth Orner, students from five classrooms each presented Mrs. Kent with a rose—filling a vase for someone who’s been their encourager, their inspiration, and one of their biggest advocate. Thank you, Mrs. Kent, for the love, support, and impact you’ve had on generations of Wildcats. And thank you, Mrs. Orner, for the heartfelt idea and photo. 💛

📣 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT // Due to facility renovations and infrastructure upgrades, the track at Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School will be closed from now through approximately October 2025. During this time, the facility will not be open for community use. As always, we appreciate your support and understanding.

Special thanks to our friends at Mechanicsburg Fire Department for recognizing and supporting our grads (and for everything their department does to protect and serve our community!). Congrats to Firefighter Nick Covert and the entire Class of 2025. In the words of MFD: "The Mechanicsburg Fire Department would like to congratulate Mechanicsburg’s class of 2025. ➕✖️ MATHLETES ON THE MOVE // Our Elmwood Academy math whizzes crushed it at the recent 24 Challenge Regional Championship at the Capital Area Intermediate Unit. Out of 88 students and 22 teams, Elmwood Team 2 snagged 1ST PLACE overall, with Bailey C. earning an impressive 4th place individual finish. 🟣 8 of our 10 competitors placed in the Top 40 🟣 4 made it to the Top 20 🟣 2 landed in the Top 8 🟣 And 1 superstar made it all the way to the Top 4! Huge shoutout to our mathletes for their hard work, brain power, and serious dedication. #WildcatPride #WildcatExcellence

🔗 LINK CREW IS COMING TO MASH // We’re launching Link Crew—a nationally recognized program to support our incoming 9th-grade Wildcats! 🐾 This spring, five staff members became certified Link Crew Coordinators (they're the smiling faces in the picture), and they selected 104 awesome sophomores and juniors to serve as Link Leaders and to guide the Class of 2029 into high school life. Stay tuned in the coming days for more photos from our first-ever Link Leaders training. The Link Crew journey officially kicks off at Freshman Orientation in August. The Crew is ready. 🐸 SURPRISE SCIENCE LESSON // Sometimes the best learning moments are the ones you don’t plan! While outside, our curious second graders at Broad Street Elementary School discovered a friendly tree frog. With a little help from Teacher Caitlin Doyle, their new friend was safely returned to its tree home.
