💜🐾 WILDCAT WEDNESDAY // Our halls are shining in maroon and steel today—and we love seeing so much Wildcat pride on display. From spirit wear to subtle pops of school colors, our Wildcats showed up strong.

🤝 COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS // School Social Workers Kelly Herman and Megan Garrison recently represented our district at the United Way Early Learning Resource Fair. Events like this help strengthen partnerships, connect families with valuable resources, and support our youngest learners as they get ready to take the exciting step into kindergarten (and the life of a KinderCat). We’re proud to be part of a community that works together to support children and families from the very beginning.

🧦 HEY MEAGHAN, YOU KNOCKED OUR SOCKS OFF // Always looking for creative ways to engage students, Meaghan Sabatini, MASH librarian, introduced a once-per-cycle board game program during study halls—bringing students together in the library to connect, collaborate, and have fun. The goal is simple but powerful: build community, encourage teamwork, and spark creativity.
When Dr. Bitz stopped by, Mrs. Sabatini was right there with students—playing games, sharing laughs, and helping make the library a welcoming space that extends far beyond academics.
That kind of care, creativity, and connection truly Knocked Our Socks Off. 💜🧦

THANK YOU, SCHOOL BOARD // January is School Director Recognition Month, and we would be remiss if we didn’t take a moment to recognize our School Board members before we turn a page on the calendar. Their volunteer service, thoughtful leadership, and commitment to our Wildcats help guide our district each and every day. We’re grateful for the time, care, and dedication they give to our school community—this month and all year long.

BEEP, BEEP // Winter weather means extra cleanup—and this week, that included Broad Street Elementary School Principal Paul Bigham taking a turn on the Riding Auto Scrubber to help clear salt from the floors before students arrived. A great reminder that in MASD, we’re a team—always ready to step in (and up… and behind the wheel 🛞) when help is needed.
📸 Special thanks to Administrative Assistant Tara Bradley for capturing this moment in action.

❄️ TWO-HOUR DELAY, 1/29/26 and 1/30/26 // Mechanicsburg Area School District will operate on a two-hour delay schedule on Thursday, January 29, and Friday, January 30, 2026. Based on several factors—including cold temperatures, the need to navigate snow piles, and the benefits of increased daylight—a delay was the best decision for our students.
Thank you for your patience as we work our way back to a normal school schedule.

❄️➡️📚 BACK AT IT // After two snow days (+ two hours), our Wildcats were all smiles and happy to be back together—learning, laughing, and filling our halls with energy once again. Welcome back, Wildcats. We missed you. 💜

🧦 HEY COACH, YOU KNOCKED OUR SOCKS OFF // On this chilly Wednesday, we thought we'd warm your heart with a bonus You Knocked Our Socks Off celebration. When our 9th grade boys basketball team needed a coach just before the season tipped off, Coach Steve Laudenslager didn’t hesitate. Coming out of “coaching retirement,” he stepped in to lead, support, and guide our student-athletes when they needed it most.
His willingness to answer the call and ensure our team was ready to compete truly Knocked Our Socks Off. Our Wildcats are lucky to have you, Coach! 🏀🐾

❄️💪 A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR MAINTENANCE & FACILITIES CREWS // Through heavy snowfall and challenging temperatures, our dedicated maintenance and facilities teams have been hard at work clearing parking lots, roads, and sidewalks to ensure our buildings and campuses are safe and ready for the return of our students and staff. They’ll be back at it again today for another round of winter weather cleanup.
Your long hours, teamwork, and commitment do not go unnoticed. We are incredibly grateful for all you do behind the scenes to keep our Wildcat community moving, no matter the weather. THANK YOU. 💜
📸 Special thanks to Erick Hoffman, Director of Facilities, for sharing these photos with us.

❄️ CLOSED // All Mechanicsburg Area School District schools will be CLOSED tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, 2026. This will be a traditional snow day with no makeup day needed.
Our Facilities Department and local municipalities did an amazing job today, as they worked tirelessly to clear roads, sidewalks, and parking lots throughout the district. Unfortunately, there are still a few trouble spots out there that we'll hopefully see cleared up tomorrow.
Stay safe, Wildcats!

🧦HEY TARA, YOU KNOCKED OUR SOCKS OFF // Shoutout to Tara Bradley, Administrative Assistant to the Principal at Broad Street, for going above and beyond in the most thoughtful way. Mrs. Bradley is always looking for ways to support not only her own building, but colleagues across the district. Most recently, she created a calendar and cycle day tracking tool that has been a game changer for administrative assistants districtwide.
Her organization skills are always right on schedule — and this time, they truly Knocked Our Socks Off. Thank you, Tara, for making everyone’s day just a little easier.

📚🏀 OH, THE BOOKS WE WILL GIVE! // Shoutout to Wildcat Teacher and Basketball Coach Steven Laudenslager, who made a special, early-morning appearance on WGAL today to help kick off the fun around our Slam Dunks and Storybooks Dr. Seuss Book Challenge — and the pages are turning in the best way. He stood alongside his brother, who's leading the challenge in neighboring West Shore SD.
Now it’s your turn to join the story. Bring a NEW book (that’s the rule, not a riddle 😉) to help spread some Seuss-style joy to patients at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital:
🏀 Tonight at the girls basketball game at Cedar Cliff
🏀 Tomorrow at the boys basketball game at Mechanicsburg Area High School
📌 A quick note from the Cat in the Hat: all donated books must be new.
So grab a book, pack the gym, cheer loud, and help us turn baskets into bookmarks and points into pages. Because when Wildcats give back, oh, the places books can go. 💜📖

👖👟 AN ACCIDENTAL TWINNING // When you sit next to your classmate every day and somehow show up in the same style jeans and the same color and style sweater + shoes … you know it’s a friendship meant to be.
No planning. No texting. Just perfect, unintentional twinning. Wildcats, we love these moments. 💜
📸 Shoutout to MMS Math Teacher Holly Fesler for capturing this photo.
