🐾 WILDCAT SIGHTING // Look who was spotted at Upper Allen this week! 👀 There’s nothing quite like a Wildcat sighting to add a little extra excitement to the school day. We’re pretty sure this one felt right at home!

🚌 BEHIND EVERY RIDE // A big thank you to our bus and van drivers who help get our Wildcats where they need to be each day. We appreciate the care and commitment you bring to every route. We’re grateful to have you on our team.

❤️ IT’S THE LITTLE MOMENTS // To our community, he’s Dr. Bitz, Superintendent of Schools. But to this little KinderCat, he’s simply a grown-up who took a few moments of his time to talk all things animals. 🦖🦁🐍

Sometimes, the little moments really are the biggest ones.

FIRST DAY, ROUND 2 COMES TO A CLOSE // As they were getting ready to pack up their bags for the day, we asked our newest KinderCats how their first day of school went, and the reviews are in: 👍! Some even gave us a double thumbs up. 👍👍

We think that’s pretty high praise! Welcome to the Wildcat family, KinderCats! 🐾

Special thanks to all of our staff across the district for making these first two days (and every day!) so special for our students.

🐾 DAY ONE: COMPLETE // “Our goal at the end of day one is to know our students are excited for day two.” — Dr. Bitz

Mission accomplished. ❤️

From the first arrivals this morning to the final dismissal this afternoon, it was SO good to have our Wildcats back where they belong.

Thanks for a great first day, Wildcats! Rest up, because we can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow. 🐾

🏍️ ROLLING INTO SECOND GRADE // Now this is a first-day arrival! One of our Wildcats at Broad Street Elementary School had quite the fun crew escorting him to school this morning, making the trip to second grade one he definitely won’t forget. What a fun way to kick off a brand-new school year! And this is just the beginning. More first-day smiles and snapshots are coming your way soon! 📸🐾 #WildcatPride

👮‍♂️👮‍♂️ THIS YEAR, I BROUGHT A FRIEND // Officer Mark has some company this year!

We’re excited to welcome Officer Tyler Reitz from the Mechanicsburg Police Department as our newest District Resource Officer. He’ll call MASH home while serving our schools throughout the Borough. Officer Reitz joins Officer Mark Sanguinito, who returns for year two serving our Upper Allen Township schools.

We’re grateful for the partnerships with both of our local police departments that make it possible to have these familiar faces supporting our Wildcats throughout the year. ❤️

Welcome, Officer Reitz, and welcome back, Officer Mark!

🐾 Make it a great first day, Wildcats!

🎒 THE COUNTDOWN IS ON // Our elementary buildings had a little extra energy yesterday as students stopped by for classroom visits. There were new spaces to explore, staff to meet, and plenty of familiar faces along the way. We loved seeing our Wildcats back in the buildings and getting a little sneak peek at the excitement ahead.

Next week, it’s the real deal. We. Can't. Wait. 🐾

⚾ ➡️ 📚 FROM BASEBALL INJURY TO FIRST-TIME AUTHOR // Time spent recovering from a baseball injury turned into an exciting new chapter for MASH senior Gary Cottingham, who published his very first book this summer!

While taking a creative writing course at MASH, Gary says he discovered a love for writing that inspired him to turn his ideas into a published book. And he’s not stopping there. He’s already working on a series and can’t wait to share what comes next.

We couldn’t be prouder to see where his creativity and drive take him. Congratulations, Gary, on this incredible accomplishment! We’ll definitely be staying tuned. 📖

🐾 Please help celebrate Gary in the comments and, if you'd like, be sure to follow his Amazon Author page for updates on future releases.

🎶❤️ THE BAND IS BACK TOGETHER AGAIN // Yesterday marked the official return of our staff, and seeing everyone back together just made us smile. The hugs, the laughter, the catching up, the opening day remarks, and the excitement for a new school year made our buildings feel a little more like home again. Our students don't return until next week, but for now, the band is back together and we’re pretty happy about it! 🐾

🍎 SUMMER LUNCH SUCCESS // This summer, our first-ever Summer Lunch Program helped make sure Wildcats had access to meals while school was out.

Together, we provided 2,968 meals (742 packs of 4 meals each) to local families throughout the summer. ❤️

That number represents so much more than meals. It represents a community coming together to support our students and families. Our Food Service Department made the program possible, while staff volunteers and community members helped make each pickup happen. Generous community donors provided additional support along the way.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who gave their time, resources, and care to make this program a success. This is what Wildcat #CommunityInAction looks like. ❤️

📚 BACK TO SCHOOL 2026 // The countdown is on! Last week, Mechanicsburg Middle School opened its doors to welcome 6th-grade students and families as they got their first look at the year ahead.

From reconnecting with friends to finding classrooms and getting those first-day questions answered, there was plenty of excitement in the air. And of course, Carson made sure to help welcome everyone with plenty of tail wags along the way. 🐶

We're looking forward to seeing our hallways filled with Wildcats (and the excitement of a brand new school year!) very soon. 🐾

🍎 WELCOME, NEWEST WILDCATS // A new school year means welcoming new members to our Wildcat family, and we couldn't be more excited to have them here! From first-year teachers beginning their careers to experienced educators joining us from other schools, each one brings unique talents, passion, and a commitment to helping our students succeed. 🐾

🍦❤️ THIS IS COMMUNITY // Summer may be in full swing (you've still got a little more than a week! 😊), but the Broad Street Elementary family is always showing up for one another.

Earlier this summer, many of our Broad Street staff stopped by Rakestraw's Ice Cream to support a fundraiser hosted by one of our Wildcats, Oliver, as he works to raise money for Breakthrough T1D.

Seeing our staff continue to cheer on students over the summer, even as they prepare to head to Elmwood Academy this upcoming school year, is what community is all about. We're so proud of Oliver for making a difference and grateful to everyone who came out to support his cause.

🏫 THE FINISHING TOUCHES // While our students have been enjoying summer break, our Facilities & Grounds team has been hard at work preparing our schools for the first day back.

From freshening up classrooms to keeping our campuses looking their best, their work helps ensure our students and staff return to welcoming spaces ready for another great year.

It's even more special to have a Class of 2026 grad, Jacob, and a current Wildcat, Colin, on the team this summer. Seeing Wildcats give back to the district they call home is something we're proud to celebrate.

Thank you to our entire Facilities & Grounds team for all you do!

🎶 SWEET SOUNDS OF SUMMER // Ahh, those sweet sounds of summer are filling the air once again.

Band Camp is officially underway, and around here, that can only mean one thing ... it's the start of a brand new school year! From early morning rehearsals to perfecting every note, our Wildcats are already hard at work preparing for an incredible season.

We can't wait to see all of that hard work come to life as another school year begins.

Welcome back (soon), Wildcats!

🎉🐾 BELATED BIRTHDAY BARKS // Happy Belated Birthday to Sunny, Elmwood Academy's beloved facility dog! 💛 While Sunny wasn't exactly a fan of the birthday hat, he certainly adored his birthday pup cup from our friends at Rakestraw's! 🍦🐶

📸 A special thank you to Sunny's handlers, Mr. and Mrs. Bull, for sharing this sweet four-legged friend with the Elmwood community each day and for passing along these photos.
