👊 FIST BUMP FRIDAY: JUNIOR SQUAD // We think it’s safe to say Fist Bump Friday is contagious.
Last week, we spotted three young Wildcats lined up outside MMS, ready to send middle schoolers into the weekend with a fist bump and a smile. The daughters of bus driver Carly, these three quickly proved they understood the assignment. 😊 Fist bumps were exchanged, smiles were immediate, and connections were made.
Looks like Mr. Yohn’s Fist Bump Friday crew has officially gained a Junior Squad, and we're here for it! 🐾

🍎 WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY // Today, we celebrate the incredible educators across MASD who inspire, encourage, challenge, and support our Wildcats each and every day.
Our teachers continually find creative ways to engage students and bring learning to life. Case in point: these three 8th grade American Studies teachers, who transformed into George Washington as part of their introduction to lessons about our nation’s first president. 🇺🇸
It’s just one fun example of the many ways our teachers go above and beyond to create meaningful, authentic learning experiences for our students.

🧦 YOU KNOCKED OUR SOCKS OFF // A trip through the lunch line became an especially meaningful moment for one Shepherdstown student who was having a difficult time communicating. With kindness and patience, Shep Kitchen Manager Scott Stover helped the student feel comfortable, and by the end of the lunch line, the smiles were plentiful and the conversation was flowing. 💬
That moment is a perfect example of the care Scott brings to Shepherdstown every day. He takes the time to get to know students, share a laugh, and make sure they leave the line with more than just their lunch.
Thank you, Scott, for making our Wildcats feel seen, supported, and cared for each and every day. You knocked our socks off!

🧦 YOU KNOCKED OUR SOCKS OFF // Upper Allen Elementary School Teacher Karol Maloney knocked our socks off when she turned her own personal journey into an authentic learning experience for students.
In recognition of Constitution Day, Karol proudly and openly shared her story of becoming a U.S. citizen, working with a colleague to create a video interview for students. By sharing her experience firsthand, she helped students explore the meaning of citizenship in a way that was personal, meaningful, and real.

🏑 WILDCAT PRIDE, BEYOND MASH // Talk about making an impact right out of the gate!
Congratulations to MASH Class of 2026 graduate Liv Schweighart, who is already making her mark as a freshman goalkeeper for Shippensburg University field hockey.
Earlier this month, Liv was named the NFHCA Division II Defensive Athlete of the Week after posting a shutout in the Raiders’ 2-0 win over No. 3 Newberry. She made two stops in the victory and extended her shutout streak to three games to begin her collegiate career. The national recognition came just after Liv was also named the PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Week. 🏆
From protecting the goal for the Wildcats to doing the same at the collegiate level, we love seeing our graduates continue to shine.
Way to go, Liv! Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat. 🐾

They’re starting with the basics, but there’s a bigger goal in mind. By the end of the year, Dr. Dankosky hopes students will work their way up to making hats and other items to donate within the community. ❤️

🎶 MAROON MACHINE TAKES THE FIELD // There’s nothing quite like seeing our Maroon Machine under the lights! 🥁
Join the Mechanicsburg Music Alliance for the 28th annual Music in the Park on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, at John H. Frederick Field at Memorial Park. The evening will feature 10 area high school marching bands, with our own Maroon Machine taking the field at 8 p.m. in exhibition with its 2026 show, GRAVITY!
🎺 Gates open at 4 p.m.
🎟️ Adults: $12
🎟️ Seniors (60+), active military, veterans, first responders & students: $8
🎟️ Ages 4 & under: FREE
Shippensburg University’s Marching Band will also perform, and the evening will wrap up with a mass band performance.
Come fill the stands and cheer on our student musicians.

Throughout the year, Dr. Rudisill, Northside Elementary School Principal, takes the time to handwrite personalized note cards for each of his staff, from welcoming them back to recognizing them during the holidays and at the end of the year.
As one teacher shared, “Even though it is something small, it is appreciated and makes you feel seen.”
It’s a simple gesture that speaks volumes about how much he values his staff and his commitment to building a supportive culture at Northside. Dr. Rudisill, you’ve knocked our socks off! 🐾

🥞 SERVING UP SOME MATH // When we stopped by third grade at Broad Street Elementary School earlier this week, our Wildcats were busy figuring out how to make sure everyone got their fair share.
Students put their math skills to work by splitting “pancakes” into equal parts to share with friends, a tasty way to explore fractions and equal shares. ➗

Her patience and compassion make a meaningful difference for our Wildcats from the moment they climb aboard. As the proud mom of one of our KinderCats shared, “Being a school bus driver has to be one of the hardest jobs I can imagine, but Miss Krystal still shows up with a smile every day.”
