🧦 HEY DIRK, YOU KNOCKED OUR SOCKS OFF // Dirk Wiley, Assistant Facilities Director, went above and beyond to make something special possible for our Wildcats.

After a Wildcat Foundation grant funded a classroom swing in Terrin Sheeder’s MDS classroom at Upper Allen, Dirk stepped in to ensure the project could be completed safely. When a suitable mount wasn’t available within budget, he researched, designed, and built a custom ceiling mount himself.

Thanks to his creativity and dedication, students now have access to a meaningful sensory and movement experience right in their classroom. Scroll back through our feed to find photos of our Wildcats using the swing for the first time. Those smiles! 😊

📚 CONNECTIONS ACROSS GRADES // Mechanicsburg Middle School 8th graders from Angel Leggore’s English class recently spent time at Shepherdstown Elementary School, sharing their work with younger students and building connections as they stepped into leadership roles.

Bringing their self-created biography children’s books, they read with and inspired our Shep Wildcats, turning each page into a moment of curiosity and excitement. It was a chance for younger students to see what’s possible and for older students to lead and connect, all the while making a meaningful impact.

💛 BIGS & LITTLES // There’s something special about Wildcats looking out for one another.

At Broad Street, our first graders recently handwrote and shared “Smarty Pants” notes filled with encouragement and confidence-boosting messages for our third graders as they prepared for the PSSAs. This simple act of kindness is a reminder that we’re all in this together.

💛 TAKING CARE OF OURSELVES // Wildcats at Northside Elementary School had a great time at their recent Self-Care Fair, exploring simple, practical strategies they can use throughout their day.

Led by school counselor Bethany Kline and school social worker Kelly Herman, students rotated through interactive stations focused on things like building positive habits, calming their minds, and knowing when to use these tools. Along the way, they created their own self-care bags to take home. A fun, hands-on experience with tools students can carry with them wherever they go. 🐾

During an off-campus auto accident involving students before the school day had even begun, Nick stepped in with calm, steady leadership and genuine care. His presence helped ensure students were supported and the situation was handled smoothly.

It’s this kind of commitment that makes a difference when it matters most. Thank you, Mr. Wilson, for always showing up for our students and staff.

🎓 SHE'S A JUNIOR LEADERSHIP CUMBERLAND GRAD // We're proud to celebrate MASH's Gabriella Kerchner on her successful completion of the Junior Leadership Cumberland program.

Throughout this experience, Gabriella demonstrated a strong commitment to personal growth and leadership development. She embraced opportunities to learn more about herself, build new skills, and gain valuable insight that will guide her in the years ahead. As the only Wildcat in this year’s cohort, Gabriella served as an outstanding ambassador for our district.
